The Network

The INI-GraphicsNet (International Network of Institutions for Advanced Education, Training and Research and Development in Computer Graphics Technology, Systems and Applications) represents one of the largest networks for new media and communication systems worldwide – including the associated information technology and their applications. It embraces the impressive number of eleven research teams in nine countries on four continents.

The intensive cooperation with local universities enable the INI-GraphicsNet members to access a wide range of up-to-date core competencies, highly qualified expertise, and important research and development know-how drawn from the pinnacle of international research and development.

The tremendous diversity covered by the various research institutes organized in the INI-GraphicsNet ranges from performing applied research activities covering a wide area up to the development of both technology and product prototypes. In order to guarantee long-term support for the network and its objectives, the commercial use of research and development results has always been encouraged and advanced. Numerous spin-offs and licensing arrangements demonstrate the successful transformation of prototypical research results into marketable products.

The world around us is ever-changing at an incredible pace. Especially scientific research and technology development have changed in ways that make international cooperation in research and education essential for the advancement of knowledge. Therefore, international networks are gaining more and more significance as they allow researchers all over the world to work cooperatively rather than competitively. The INI-GraphicsNet is following this lead, acknowledging the importance of research and knowledge consolidation in order to be prepared for the future.
