Traffic and Mobility

The development of innovative logistics solutions for optimizing the transport of people and goods by different traffic carriers such as road, rail, air and water constitute an elementary R&D area within the INI-GraphicsNet. Various industries like the automotive and aviation industries, public institutions and commerce, logistic service providers and software suppliers, the tourism industry, along with other service providers are benefiting from these solutions.

The three main aspects in the context of transport and mobility are Mobility Management, Individual Mobility, and Experience Mobility. The focus within the mobility management is on the infrastructure and the infrastructure providers by integrating the traffic data (data of traffic network and traffic flow) and including further information. On this basis tools are made available allowing to identify problems and risks at an early stage and to calculate the consequences.

In the centre of the individual mobility is the road user, i.e. the passenger in public transport or the motorist and cyclist in private transport. Here, the systems aim at supporting the mobility of the individual, e.g. with information and navigation services supporting the road user when he/she is looking for a hotel or restaurant or with the calculation of the fastest, simplest, or nicest route to the desired destination.

Experience Mobility deals with shaping mobility, for instance, with services assisting in efficient working time usage or enjoyably leisure time management.
Mobility creates dynamics. The “nomadic worker” needs constant access to information and services – in the car, in the office or on the plane. Modern transport systems, mobile information services and networked vehicles provide are the bases for this.
