Security Technology
Computers are continuously getting smaller and smaller and made smart phones, laptops, and other mobile devices possible. More and more people are using them for activities like online shopping where they have to exchange sensitive and important data via wireless networks. Such wireless networks though are easily accessible to everybody. Therefore secure reliable electronic signatures are in demand for mobile and telecommunication systems as well as for applications of the health and e-commerce industries.

Computer graphics can help achieve a higher standard of security. For instance, biometrics and biometric methods become more significant, because they can ensure authorized access to systems. Digital media like images, audio and video files up to complex 3D models are of growing importance in our everyday life. They can be copied and duplicated without any loss of quality, which rarely meets with the approval of the owner. Here, computer graphics is applied to protect intellectual property. Examples are watermarking or fingerprinting methods together with digital rights management. Owing to the grown performance of data networks and visualizing systems, computer graphics is also becoming more significant within communication systems. This distribution of sensitive visualizing data make security as well as ensuring authenticity in networks of communicated data vital.
Biometric security like face recognition, security of content, documents, and products, and also security in mobile applications are research and development areas within the INI-GraphicsNet.
